getting off the grind

Are you on Periscope? If not, you should be! This past Sunday, I hosted my first ever 'scope on the subject of...you guessed it: Grace vs. Grind.Since so many of you resonated with the WHY behind my blog post "Grace vs. Grind: Which One Are You Operating in?", I really wanted to give you the HOW.Now, of course, I'm not an expert and I'm still figuring this all out myself. However, I have been doing a few things that have made a huge difference, which is what I shared in my periscope "Getting OFF the Grind: How to Succeed with Grace and Ease." Click below to check it out!Watch:http://youtu.be/YWt-f2UtvPchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srAh41ySBX0Summary:Watch/Listen to the periscope above for all the nitty gritty, but the 5 top things I've been doing to move away from grinding yet still succeed are:1. I decided how I wanted to feel. Though I was seeing some "success" from all my grinding in terms of growth and earning money, I hated the way I felt doing it. I felt worn out, haggard, disconnected from people I cared about, and all around NOT like myself. So the first thing I did was get really clear and really honest on how I wanted to feel. I didn't want to feel like a guy on the grind; I wanted to feel poised and put together and feminine. Like a confident woman who was taking swift action toward her purpose.Once I got clear on that, again, I got honest on what I needed to feel that way. Ya girl needs to get her hair and nails done. Sorry (not sorry) but I do. I need cute clothes to wear. I need brunch with my girlfriends. Date night with my hubby. Impromptu trips to thrift stores across town. Random weeknights spent watching documentaries on Netflix with a huge bowl of popcorn at home. Quiet time laying on the floor on Saturday mornings listening to downtempo, talking to God.I NEED THAT!!!So I'm giving myself all that. How I need to feel is now non-negotiable.2. I focused on my "RGAs" and gave up the rest. Many of the blogs and books I've read on entrepreneurship stress this idea of focusing on your RGAs...Revenue Generating Activities. Basically, they say if you spend the more time focusing on Revenue Generating Activities than you do admin work, you're business will succeed. And they're right - that's good advice. The only caveat that's missing in that nugget of wisdom is #1...you can spend all your time focusing on "Revenue Generating Activities" but if you don't take into account how you want to feel then you'll still get burned out. So I decided to switch out the "R" in RGAs from revenue to results. Results Generating Activities. To me, results include revenue but it doesn't stop there - results is first and foremost about the results I want in my life. Staying healthy. Having a great relationship with my loved ones. Enjoying myself. You know, how I want to feel. When I look at my to-do list, I now ask myself if this is an RGA - Results Generating Activity. If it's not, I don't worry about it. I'm exclusively focusing on doing the things that will bring me the kind of results I want in my life.3. I faced my fears. As I stated in my Grace vs. Grind post, grinding is really a fear-based activity. So in order to get off the grind, I first had to face my fears. As I sat with myself and asked "Why the heck am I grinding so hard???" I released I was fearful of being trapped in a 9-5 situation forever, fearful of having a kids soon and not having enough time to go after my dream, fearful of just letting things take the amount of time they need to take.As I faced my fears, I saw that I was being ridiculous. Of course I'm shooting to make my goals in a certain time-frame but if things end up taking longer, it's not the end of the world. I now know that I can trust the process (Grace) and have full confidence that I will still reach my goals.4. I fixed my money mindset. When I first started building my business, I just assumed that earning and income doing what I loved would be hard. Everyone said I'd have to work super hard and make crazy sacrifices but I never questioned if that concept was even true. Obviously success does require work in that sense that you will have to make the effort, but if things are consistently a struggle, it's probably a sign that there's a better way.So, I decided to focus on find that "better way." But first I had to believe that it was possible to earn a great income without putting in a gazillion hours or working excessively. Working "hard" for money is one way to go about it...but I now believe you can make a whole lot more working smart.5. I gave myself permission for it to be easy. This was the biggest change I made. I realized that didn't have to be hard in order to work. My journey to success if allowed to be easy.Think about that for a second. Let that sit."It's allowed to be easy."Do you really believe that? For the longest, I didn't. I felt like I was "cheating" if things were flowing, if there was an ease to what I did. I didn't realize then like I do now that that's what it means to be in grace (God's unmerited favor). So when things were flowing for me and I was experiencing grace and ease, I would subconsciously find ways to "make it harder" because I thought t wasn't "allowed" to be easy.Your journey is "allowed" to be however you make it. And I'm giving mine permission to be easy.[symple_divider style="dashed" margin_top="20" margin_bottom="20"]During my live periscope, I offered a free journal and audio guide to my viewers that I want to make available to you too!
