Hey Everyone!Today I have two videos for you to check out. A few weeks ago, I was taking my hair down from mini-twists while watching natural hair videos on YouTube and I started to feel a little guilty that I hadn't posted anything in a while. As I explain in the videos, I somehow lost the wall charger to my brand new camcorder and haven't been able to use it since the battery is currently dead. I'm waiting for a replacement charger to come in the mail, but it dawned on me that I still have a ton of resources at my disposal to record videos—namely my iPhone and my Macbook! So with that stroke of inspiration, I went ahead and recorded my hair styling process. In summary:
- I washed my hair with a mix of Wen and Sally's Wen knock-off product, Hair One (I explain why in the video).
- I also used the Wen/Hair One as a deep conditioner and left it in my hair overnight
- I air dried my hair in braids in order to prep my hair for flat-ironing
- I took one braid down at a time as I flat ironed my hair using the "Comb Chase Method"
- Once my hair was straight, I wore it like that for a few days until it started to get really flat. Once it the style got "old," I simply set it on flexirods (no other products used, except maybe some hair lotion/moisturizer) to get a big, 50's curly/wavy look.
And that's it! I'm trying to be more gentle with my hair which is why I didn't use a blow-dryer...that and because I don't even own a blow dryer! I threw my cheapie one out during the move and simply never replaced it. Who knows if I'll ever get around to buying a replacement. I've been managing well without it thus far. You'll also notice that I haven't retained much length since my initial length check back in May. I may have netted 1.5 to 2 inches since then, but I pretty much undid that when I trimmed my hair. I'm sure the issue has been that I really have not taking the time to focus on my hair. I have been so busy with work and getting in the swing of things in my new city that I just hadn't taken the time to follow any particular regimen or do anything "protective" or special with my hair. I am hoping to hunker down now and really focus on my hair as I'm only about 6-8 inches away from my ultimate goal. I know that if I quit messing around, I can be there withing 18 months for sure.So that's my hair life as of late. How is yours? Share in the comments below.
