Bookclub Book: Living The Savvy Life

August 28, 2012

Hey ya'll!Yes, you read that correctly...I said "ya'll"...it's been a few weeks since I moved to Texas and all these southern sayings and accents around here just tickle me. So far, I have to say that I'm really enjoying being a Texas girl! :-)One thing I'm only halfway enjoying, however, is this new so-called "adult" life. Living without 1000 roommates and having biweekly direct-deposit is definitely lovely but figuring out how to manage my money in the wake of all these new bills (um, why didn't anyone tell me cable and internet is ridiculously expensive?) is turning out to be a bit more than I bargained for. Every time I turn around, I feel like there is a new, "mandatory" expense threatening to blow my budget (usually this happens exactly five minutes after I've calculated my how much free money I assumed I would have for the month). Can a girl have her cake...and furniture for her new apartment, and gas in the tank, and new clothes, and dinners out with her friends, and high-speed internet too? You've probably heard it said that you can have it all, just not all at the same time. Well when it comes to managing your money in a way that gives you the most bang for your buck, that seems to be the mantra that Melissa Tosetti, author of Living the Savvy Life: The Savvy Woman's Guide to Smart Spending and Rich Living, lives by.

When I first ran across this book, I knew this was something I needed to read and needed to read soon. Thus, in an attempt to kill two birds with one stone, I have chosen this book as the September 2012 Think & Grow Chick Bookclub Book of the Month (hey, I did say that this bookclub was, in part, just my excuse to read more books!).All the information concerning dates and discussion boards for this book can be found on the bookclub itself.
