The Story of a Black Girl and Her Finances—Michelle Singletary

November 3, 2010

Many readers have been asking when the heck am I going to get part 3 of the "Story of a Black Girl..." financial series out. It is coming, I promise it is coming! To hold everyone over, I thought I'd share a short clip that I recorded this weekend while in New York at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Conference. Nationally renowned financial columnist, Michelle Singletary, graced all of us broke, college student attendees with her presence and it was a real delight. The whole time she was speaking, I couldn't help but relate to her as she is a black girl with her own interesting story about her road to financial responsibility. I will hash out a longer post on Mrs. Singletary, complete with all of the wisdom that she shared at the conference, but for now, enjoy this little tidbit from her about using cash versus credit cards.
