Hello and welcome to The B-Side, a mastermind group for entrepreneurial women! On the first of each month, I share my business-related goals, challenges, and triumphs while inviting you to do the same! I'd love for you to join me; you can learn more about participating by clicking here.So I'm two days late posting this but for good reason! I'll spoil the results to one of my goals by telling you that I had my event on Nov 1 and it was a success!!! But because it was a success, I was dog-tired afterwards and pretty much crashed when I got home, hence no post on the actual first day of the month. Nevertheless, October was a great month indeed. Here are my results:
Last Month's Results
- Have a successful event and collect local email addresses. Check and check! The event went off without any major hiccups! I was nervous for nothing -- everything went smoothly and attendees had a great time. I'm really excited to get started on my second event in January, so stay tuned for that. If you want to see pictures from the event, you can view them both on my instagram (#StyleYourLifeDallas) and on my Facebook page.
- Get new, professional photos taken. My event partner, I'sha, took some great, casual head-shots of me (you can also check these out on my instagram page). The pictures I currently have on my about page and on my social media profiles are 3 years old (yikes!) so I'm happy I have some new photos that are more up-to-date.
- Outline my free newsletter offer. I crushed this goal. Not only did I outline my newsletter offer, I even shot 2 of the 6 videos that go into my offer. Not bad!
This Month's Business Goals
- Get new, professional photos taken. Even though I was able to get a lot of great casual shots, I still need professional photos of me in more "business-y" attire to use on my speaking website (oh yes, a website just for my professional speaking is in the works!) and LinkedIn profile. I have one photographer in mind that I will reach out to.
- Finish the videos for my newsletter offer. The newsletter offer I'm working on is a free, multi-day challenge that includes about 6 videos. As I stated above, I already have 2 of them done so this month I want to finish recording the other 4.
- Stick to my editorial & social media calendar. This is the goal that never goes away. I am forever trying to be less haphazard when it comes cranking out blog post and social media updates. My goal this month is to stick to my editorial calendar so I can feel more organized and consistent.
Current Challenges
- Deciding what products and services to offer. I love love all things personal development and want to start offering specific products and services to women around that topic. The only problem is choosing exactly what to offer. I realize that customers don't buy products and services as much as they buy solutions to their problems. So my challenge has been in figuring out which problems my target market most wants a solution to. (Feel free to leave me a comment letting me know what problems you most want solved in your own life!)
- Marketing to like-minded women locally. My first ever Think & Grow Chick event was great but because I partnered with a natural hair blogger, we had a mixed audience of women who were interested in personal development and those who were interested in natural hair care. I know their are women who are passionate about personal growth in the Dallas-area but I'm having trouble finding where they hang out, what events they go to in the city, and how to market Think & Grow Chick to them. Not sure how to solve this issue but I know I'll figure something out...
Current Successes/What's Working
- Listening to motivating messages all day, everyday. I barely listened to any music this month because I had inspiring audiobooks and podcasts playing CONSTANTLY on my iPhone. I listen to them in the car, on the train, at work, at the gym, at the grocery store, while cooking dinner...literally all. the. time! I'm in a season of really trying to blast through negative thinking, doubts, and limiting beliefs. Keeping inspiring messages on deck has pushed my motivation and work ethic through the roof!
- Taking steps everyday. I mentioned this during my "How to Stop Talkin' Bout It So You Can Be About It" podcast, but by forcing myself to take a step towards my goal EVERYDAY, even if its small, I've been able to make some serious progress.
Your Turn!
